Potato Chip Delivery Van Catches Fire

A delivery van full of potato chips caught fire at a southside strip mall.

Thunder Bay Fire Service reports it happened on North Edward street in the parking lot of the mall around 10:30 Wednesday morning.

They tell us the cube van was fully involved in flames and was just two metres away from the Circle K convenience store, but the building was not damaged.

The cause of the fire was an unattended portable propane heater in the cargo area of the van where a large quantity of highly flammable potato chips was stored.

Damage to the van is extensive.

No one was injured.
