Final TTC Streetcar Delivered Today

It’s a big day for Bombardier.

Spokesperson Kaven Delarosbil tells us the streetcar contract for the Toronto Transit Commission is officially completed today. He says “this morning the 204th and very last TTC streetcar was officially delivered in Toronto.”

The Bombardier spokesperson tells us over the next few days the Thunder Bay build vehicle will go into a test phase and then it is going to go into service sometime next week.

Delarosbil agrees it has been a long journey and gives credit to the employees, noting they “have worked really really hard” to reach this milestone.

“We are very proud of what they have accomplished, they have worked around the clock to make this happen,” he said.

Local Unifor President Dominic Pasqualino credits the workers as well saying “they went far and beyond what was required to get the job done.”

The contract was awarded to Bombardier in 2009 and it was a bumpy ride along the way with various delays and problems which included issues with parts and changes to the design. It forced the company to step up production to make its 2019 deadline.
