Extensive smoke damage in Fort William house fire

Quick action by Thunder Bay Fire Rescue kept damage to a minimum in a house fire on the Fort William First Nation.

The blaze was reported around 2 pm Thursday afternoon when smoke was noticed coming from the eves of the single-family dwelling.

Three pumper trucks were initially dispatched along with a command vehicle and two more pumpers were sent out along with a ladder truck.

The fire department says there was heavy smoke damage to the home, but only modest fire damage to the room affected and attic space.
