Expect Cold Snap To Last Into Next Week

Our cold weather spell is not going away any time soon.

Meteorologist Gerald Cheng tells us it will last “quite some time.”

“The jet stream has sunk south allowing the cold air from the north to basically take over much of northern Ontario and that’s why we are looking at below normal temperatures this week into next week,” explains Cheng.

The Environment and Climate Change Canada official says temperatures are currently about seven degrees below normal for this time of year.

It also means we can expect a snow event on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning leaving us with about 2 to 4 centimetres of accumulation.

Ironically, this cold snap comes on the heels of a warm spell in which temperatures were above normal for this time of year.
