The lack of essential transportation service in Northern Ontario will be taken care of with the return of Ontario Northland bus service.
The province says starting Sunday, you’ll be able to hop on a bus for work, hospital and other essential trips with two new routes.
There will be return service from White River to Thunder Bay three times a week, and on Monday, there will be two return trips from Thunder Bay to Winnipeg.
The government adds the Thunder Bay/Winnipeg route will take Highway 17 through Dryden and Kenora, with stops at Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg and the University of Winnipeg.
“People in Northern Ontario deserve access to safe and reliable public transportation that connects them to employment opportunities, medical appointments and other essential services,” said Caroline Mulroney, Minister of Transportation. “Our government is working closely with the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission to fill the recent gap in the Northwest.”
A number of services, both public and private, had been forced to take service off the road due to financial constraints due to COVID-19.
