It’s about high school science teacher Jennifer Castillo. She has a huge following on TikTok because of her very creative ‘classroom makeovers’. BUT, she’s gone viral for something else. Every year, for the past 7 years, she hosts “The Annual College Essentials Basket Giveaway”. It’s all done to support first year college / university students.
She personally takes the time to fill a laundry basket with essentials: bed sheets, comforters, toiletries and school supplies. Why? To ease the financial strain on students and families, and to remind the students….even if they think they don’t – they have the community cheering them on!
Late last year, Jennifer launched a Go Fund Me page to help fill these baskets, and the response has been amazing! With Jennifer’s guidance and the help of donations, she’s empowering the next generation. She said it best on TikTok: “when passion meets purpose – incredible things can happen”.
