Environment Canada Predicts Region’s First Snowstorm

Environment Canada says to prepare for a dump of snow in the areas north and west of the city this week.

A special weather statement is out for the Lake Nipigon, Atikokan, Upsala and Quetico areas, along with Dryden, Ignace, Fort Frances, and Sioux Lookout.

Officials are predicting 15 to 25 centimetres of snow will fall Wednesday into Thursday, with the highest amounts expected to fall along a line from Fort Frances to just north of Lake Nipigon.

They say rain is expected today and tomorrow, but it will change to snow Tuesday night when northeast winds are predicted to bring cold air in from the Arctic.
