Elevator Laws Under Review

The provincial government wants to finally put in place new regulations governing elevators.

It wants to mandate operators in multi-story apartments to report outages to the Technical Standards and Safety Act and that they be posted online.

It also proposes to give the T-S-S-A authority to issue fines for non-compliance.

Both received approval in the legislature in 2018 but were not acted upon.

The government is looking for feedback first.
