Construction of a new elementary school has been delayed due to what the Lakehead Public School Board is calling unforeseen circumstances and rising costs.
The school is to replace Agnew H. Johnston public and Edgewater Park.
The Lakehead public board has posted on its Facebook page the new school won’t be ready until September of 2020.
The board adds costs have risen above what the Ministry of Education had budgeted, thus resulting in construction changes.
That includes no floor space for a music room.
The board adds this issue will be looked at again in the new year, with input from parents to be sought after.
