Elderly Man Drowns Near Border

A 71-year Minnetonka man is dead following a drowning on Saganaga Lake.

Provincial police, along with the Grand Marais sheriff’s department, were called to the area early Saturday to reports of a man in distress near the Canadian/US border.

Police say in spite of CPR, Craig Sicard was pronounced dead at the scene.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
