Eight wildfires continue to burn across northwestern Ontario

Eight forest fires are currently active across northwestern Ontario.

According to the province’s Forest Fire Info Map, fires near Kenora and in the Fort Frances district are now under control.

However, two fires burning north of Thunder Bay remain out of control.

In the Red Lake area, four additional fires are active. Two are being monitored, while the other two are also listed as out of control.

With hot, dry conditions continuing, much of the region from Kenora to Thunder Bay remains under a high to extreme risk for new fire starts.
