Drug Amnesty Day returns to Thunder Bay

Another drug amnesty event is being held in Thunder Bay.

The event is being hosted by NorWest Community Health Centres and is taking place at their site at 525 Simpson Street.

Drug Amnesty Day provides residents with an opportunity to dispose of expired and unused medications properly and safely.

Residents can also use the opportunity to dispose of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia confidentially without risk of prosecution.

Properly disposing of medications ensures they are not shared or used illegally.

It also protects our waterways by reducing contamination through improper drug disposal.

The centre will be accepting the following items:

  • Over-the-counter drugs
  • Prescription medications
  • Cough syrups and cold/ flu medications
  • Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia
  • Vitamins and mineral supplements

The event is running from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
