Driver Fails To Make Way For Emergency Vehicle

An 82 year old Thunder Bay man faces charges after a collision with a parked police cruiser.

The crash happened just after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday on Memorial Avenue near Third Avenue as police were dealing with a separate incident involving a suspended driver who was uninsured and using improper plates.

The elderly individual hit the cruiser, knocking the vehicle about 20 feet.

The charges include Failing to Slow Down and Yield to an emergency vehicle, which also carries a nearly $500 fine.

The officer involved in the crash was treated for injuries at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
