Driver Charged After Fleeing Police

A 35-year old man from Fort William First Nation is facing a number of charges after attempting to flee from police in his vehicle in the south end.

They say they noticed the vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign on Miles Street just before 8:30 Saturday night.

When attempting to stop the driver, police say he slowed, then sped away south on Vickers and ignored a red light on Arthur Street.

Police did not pursue out of public safety, but investigation lead them to arrest the accused around 1 o’clock in the morning.

The man is charged with Flight from a Peace Officer x 2, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Comply with a Judicial Release, and Breach of Probation.
