On Thursday night (June 30th)…..my wife and I were hanging out on the couch, then, we heard a loud bang…and then another one, and then another one. Turns out a homeowner behind our street (not directly behind us)…just a couple down from us lit off a huge fireworks display.
At one point I went out onto my deck to kindly ask them – “what are you thinking”? Our houses are so close together, and the way the wind was blowing that night, they didn’t get any dust / debris from the fireworks. WE DID, my neighbour’s did, and so did several other houses. A couple of people lost their dog as they were out for a walk at the time.
I know the city by-law states you can light off fireworks in the city limits, but there has to be some type of ‘common sense’. If houses are close together – why would you even consider setting off fireworks.
So…the next day, I spent my morning cleaning up the debris from THE OTHER PERSON’s fireworks. Empty shells / casings / debris on both our vehicles, on our driveway, lawn etc. I’ve never been in this situation before and to see the amount of debris on other people’s property and mine was a little disturbing.
I don’t even want to look at my roof. I hope there was no damage. PLEASE………..if your homes are close together, don’t set off fireworks. Just a thought. Have a terrific day. (pics show just a fraction of what I cleaned up)
