Reconstruction of Cumberland Street will be re-tendered in 2016.
Council approved delaying the capital project, after learning it was underfunded for 2015, when other contracts, notably for Golf Links Road, came in significantly higher than budget.
Director of Engineering Kayla Dixon says Cumberland Street was always a multi-year project, and can still be completed on schedule, even though work won’t begin until next year.
At the request of council, city admin will present a list of other roadwork projects that could be completed before the end of this construction season, next week.
Water rate funds originally for Cumberland will now be reallocated to the Chamberlain Pumping Station rehab project.
