Crohn’s & Colitis Chapter Back In Thunder Bay

After about eight years Thunder Bay once again has a Crohn’s and Colitis Canada chapter.

Spokesperson Hafsa Siddiqui believes the time is right to bring it back.

She says “We are looking to reorganize the chapter in Thunder Bay because there is quite a bit of demand for the services” the organization provides.

Siddiqui is looking for local support like volunteers who can help implement programs in the city.

While there are no figures for Thunder Bay, statistics show 1 in 140 people in Canada is affected by Inflammatory Bowel Disease one of the highest incidences world-wide.

A virtual walk is being held across Canada today to raise awareness and encourage local participation.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
