Crafts to keep kids busy while school’s out!

When I was a kid there was never anything like what is happening in the world right now! So I can’t really offer you any advice on how to tell your kids about whats happening, (as if i’m even qualified to give advice about ANYTHING), but what I CAN do is give you and the kids ways to keep busy and bond together while doing things that don’t involve a computer, phone, or TV screen!

I grew up with a handy book called “The Fantastic Rainy Day Book: More than 60 step-by-step projects to Paint, Build, Make, Bake, Sew, and Grow!” by Angela Wilkes, it’s older than I am but it kept me and my sister entertained for hours over the years whenever I was home from school or it was a rainy weekend inside!

It may not be raining right now but that doesn’t mean you can’t still do these crafts and have some fun! Hopefully you can try them out and if you like them I’m going to start doing this every Saturday for the next little while so there will be more!! Below is a list of things you can use/need to make this week’s crafts! I’ve also attached pictures underneath of this week’s pages from the book so you can get some inspiration!

What tools you need: Tape, Ruler, Thick+Thin Paintbrushes, Scissors, a Felt Pen, Glue/Glue Sticks, Cotton Swabs, and a Jar of Water

Supplies you need: Different sizes/types of thick white paper, Scraps of cloth, Pages from magazines, Coloured paper, Corrugated Cardboard, Poster Paints, Dried Beans/Seeds/Pasta, Smooth Stones/Pebbles, and some clear varnish!
