Uncertainty surrounds the further availability of the COVID-19 vaccine in the region.
Thunder Regional Health Sciences Centre CEO Rhonda Crocker Ellacott tells us because of the “limited supply” the staff at long-term care homes will not be getting the Pfizer shot.
“We’re going to be looking to the provincial government to be confirming our vaccine supply going into the weeks following January 25th however we have limited our vaccine first dose…to residents of long-term care facilities,” says Crocker-Ellacott.
There have been 2,100 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered at long-term care homes in the city so far with 80 percent going to residents.
The hospital, which controls the distribution of the vaccine in the district, was scheduled to get its next vaccine shipment on February 1st, but that could change.
