Federal Health Minister Patty Hajdu is telling Canadians it is still too soon to tell if her government’s actions are having an impact on the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our death rate is lower than in other countries like Italy, like a lot lower, so that is a good sign. The number of people hospitalized percentage-wise compared to some of the comparator countries is lower but we still see an increase in cases and we don’t know yet if the measures we took are flattening our curve,” Hajdu noted.
Hajdu says everyone has to be on guard and everyone needs to social distance and in illness cases self-isolate.
“Listen I know this is incredibly hard for everyone financially, from a stress place, from a health place and it is going to take all of us pitching in and supporting each other to get through,” Hajdu said.
