COVID-19 Sidelines U-Ride Founder

The Thunder Bay man who created U-Ride is battling COVID-19 in England.

Cody Ruberto tells us he was there playing soccer, when extreme coughing started, along with very strange pressure in his head, and, not wanting to get out of bed for days. “It was like that for about a week, where symptoms were really bad, and then things started getting back to normal, I was feeling great, still isolating. Then I started getting symptoms again, and went for another COVID test, and tested positive.”

The local man adds there are days when he feels horrible, but other days are better.

He says he has tested positive twice, after symptoms including severe coughing and head aches started.

“I’ve been getting a lot of pressure in my head. It’s a really weird feeling. I felt extremely lethargic. Originally I thought I was just getting rundown with work. I’ve been working long hours with U-Ride,” says Ruberto.

The Thunder Bay man adds the infected soccer league has been suspended.

He plays professionally in England, has been there since August, and returns home to Thunder Bay in the off-season.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
