COVID-19 Outbreak At Thunder Bay Regional

An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Officials said Thursday that it affects the Adult Mental Heath Unit with two or more laboratory-confirmed cases within a 14-day period where both cases could have reasonably acquired their infection in the hospital.

As of Friday morning, there are 24 patients being treated for the virus with five of those being situated in the Intensive Care Unit.

The medical/surgical occupancy has dropped to 98.1 per cent while ICU occupancy is at 72.7 per cent.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
