A Double Digit Day Of New COVID-19 Cases

Seventeen new cases of the novel coronavirus in the local district.

Officials with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit say 12 of the cases were obtained through close contact while three case causes are pending and two were picked up with travel outside of Northwestern Ontario.

The Health Unit reports four cases were resolved and the active case count sits at 62.

The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting eight new cases in the Rainy River region.

Currently the active case count is 16 in Rainy River and 22 in Kenora. NWHU officials say there are no new cases in that district.

In Ontario no single day record set for new cases.

The latest numbers show 3,443 recent COVID-19 cases with 40 additional deaths, which brings the provincial death toll to 4,922.
