Council Doesn’t Have Appetite For Meal Cuts

Council doesn’t want to go hungry.

Councillor Rebecca Johnson put a hefty list of budget cuts on the table at last night’s ratification, one of which advocated for the end to council meals ahead of weekly meetings.

But Mayor Keith Hobbs says depriving staff of meals is taking it one step too far, noting Council hasn’t seen a pay raise since 1997.

Johnson says it would have saved about $12,000 from the budget. (File photo)
