Council Says No To Boulevard Lake Motions

A pair of motions involving Boulevard Lake are defeated by Council.

Current River Ward Andrew Foulds put forward the items Tuesday night that were looking to use up to $100,000 for each initiative through the parks and open spaces budget.

The first one involved constructing new landing docks for the Lakehead Canoe Club, which was defeated by a 9-3 vote. The second vote involved an environmental assessment for the purposes of dredging. That was knocked off by an 8-4 count.

“Good intentions, I appreciate the thought behind it but this is not the year to be doing this,” says At Large Councillor Rebecca Johnson. “I’m sorry I can’t support anything further going into this budget. I can’t, in all honesty, go to the community and put something else in for the canoe club. It’s just not possible.”
