A new partnership agreement between Confederation College and Seven Generation Education Institute (SGEI) could come at the expense of some regional campuses.
Beginning this fall, SGEI will offer Confederation College programming.
College President Michelle Salo says as the move is made to add more programming, some of its regional campuses could close.
But she says Confederation College will still have a strong presence through SGEI.
“The opportunity is to expand with Seven Gens,” says Salo.
“There’s potential to grow the campuses with Seven Generations. Although Confederation College campuses will close, our programming will be co-branded with Seven Generations.”
Salo says closures could come as early as 2027.
Exact details are still being determined, but campuses in Fort Frances and Kenora are likely to be most effected.
SGEI has campuses in both locations.
The College’s campus in Red Lake will remain open, while those in Greenstone and Marathon will continue to operate as they are.
