CO Tragedy Averted In Shuniah

A close call in Shuniah Township.

Fire officials say paramedics recently alerted them to a situation in a home where they were called to deal with a sick woman in her 50’s.

The woman had symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.

She recovered at the hospital after being given oxygen.

They say an inspection of the home turned up high levels of carbon monoxide and an older CO detector in the residence wasn’t working.

It’s believed a wood stove was the cause of the problem.
