Backup Camera Only A Tool

A local driving instructor encourages students to reverse often, to master backing up with and without a back up camera.

Jennifer Berlinquette-Chabluk owns the local Young Drivers of Canada, and says if the backup camera is not working, or if there isn’t one, people can struggle with using just their mirrors. “As complacent as we all can be, some of us do fall back and use only the camera. But at the end of the day, the cameras in our cars are only tools. You cannot back up successfully without using your mirrors, your rear view mirror and your camera.”

The driving school instructor reminds us of how the backup camera should be treated. “It’s a tool to help you navigate. Not to be used as a sole thing for backing out of a lane way, or a parking lot, or anything like that.”
