Cities Given Retail Cannabis Deadline

A newly elected city council in Thunder Bay will have little time to decide if they will allow a cannabis store to be set up within the municipality.

Attorney General Caroline Mulroney says a deadline is now in place for municipalities across the province for what is their only chance to decide if it will allow cannabis retailers.

“The deadline for opt-outs would be January 22, which would be three months after the municipal elections.”

Legislation now introduced will also give powers to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission to oversee the pot stores.
