City Wants Money To Provide Next Gen 911

The City is demanding the provincial government help them pay for the many upgrades that are needed to provide new high tech 911 service.

Councillor Brian McKinnon says it’s going to be very expensive to provide.

“So that means we obviously have to train new people, we have to buy all new equipment, a big time expense in new equipment we are looking at multi-million expenditure over the years.”

The new service needs to be in place by 2019 and will include video calls and social media reporting.(File photo)
