The City of Thunder Bay has released some architectural drawings of what the temporary village could look like.
A meeting was held this morning to update local businesses about the Hillyard site on Alloy Place.
The session was co-hosted by the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce and drew about 55 people.
The city says construction is expected to begin later this summer and to meet provincial funding requirements, at least 40 units must be operational by the middle of December.
A total of 80 are being planned and the city says the Hillyard site is final, unless significant, unresolvable issues arise during the current assessment phase.
That includes serious safety concerns or costs that exceed the approved project budget.
A Neighborhood Liaison committee is also being set up to open lines of communication with the operator of the facility and the city.
