The Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) has announced its plans to host an annual gala.
The event will recognize and celebrate the work of TBPS members while also supporting local charities.
The inaugural event is taking place on February 28 at the Italian Cultural Centre, featuring a dining experience, live music, and a silent auction.
The fundraising aspect of the event is supporting Special Olympics Thunder Bay and The Boys and Girls Club – BGC Thunder Bay.
The Boys and Girls Club is using its funding to support its extensive range of activities, such as a food security program, cooking program, leadership program, sports program, recreation program, and after-school and evening programs.
The local Special Olympics organization supports roughly 400 athletes, offering all 18 sports that are sanctioned by Special Olympics Ontario.
They are using the funding to support travel costs and equipment purchases.
“This is community-based, I mean, without the sponsorship from our community, we wouldn’t be successful,” said Chief Darcy Fleury.
“So we really want to have as many local businesses and agencies come forward and help support the program and really support the cause, and again just have an opportunity to come out and celebrate the service, and you know some of the work that we’ve been doing.”
Tickets for the event are not on sale yet, but you can find more information or register to be a sponsor by clicking here.
