The city is making sure the spring potholes are getting patched up.
This is the time of year when, as a driver, you need to avoid those road craters which can cause damage to your vehicle.
Roads manager Brad Adams tells us their pothole filling machine is out and about taking care of the main streets.
“For the heavier traffic volume road, the four-lane roads, for example, it’s a lot safer for having that machine out there doing those types of activities in the traffic compared to having staff manually patching the potholes,” explains Adams.
The city official notes this year has been better than most because of the nicer winter and early spring since, “Temperature is the big factor where we don’t have the cyclical freeze-thaw type activity, it’s more consistent now throughout the spring so that’s…preventing the asphalt from breaking up.”
Adams adds it is difficult to say whether the city will save money on pothole repairs this year since he cannot account for anything unforeseen in the summer and fall.
