City Marks International Women’s Day

It’s the start of a week of celebrating women in preparation for International Women’s Day.

Today, the City of Thunder Bay and the Northwestern Ontario Women’s Centre are holding a flag-raising at City Hall at 10 AM.

The event will feature a city proclamation to mark the day, and a speech by activist Shelby Gagnon about her experiences as a young Indigenous woman.

The Women’s Centre says they want to celebrate what women bring to the community and acknowledge the issues they face in Thunder Bay.

International Women’s Day is this Sunday March 8th.
