City considering development at Junot Park

Thunder Bay residents have the chance to weigh in on a potential new property development near Red River Road and Junot Avenue.

The city is looking to create a new community-oriented complex on the southwest corner of Junot Park, and is looking for public input on how to best use the lands.

The proposed set of buildings would make up a “faith-based community complex,” which would include a place of worship, a gym, a day school, and housing.

Notably, the development would not interfere with the park’s playground, parking lot, or trails.

A survey is now running to gauge public opinion, which will be open until June 1.

The city will also be hosting an open house on Thursday, May 28 at the 55 Plus Centre from 6 to 8 p.m.
