The head of the Thunder Bay Public Library is disappointed city council cut $50,000 from his budget.
John Pateman is concerned about the impact the cut will have on the services the library offers.
“Many of those services go to people with high levels of need so we gonna have to see how we can manage that,” said Pateman.
He justifies the increase he requested suggesting library use is high noting about 30,000 people in the city have library cards and estimates an equal amount come in off the street to use the services.
The chief librarian adds last year they had over 3.3 million interactions with the community, in person or on their website.
