Cheaper Liquor Now Allowed For Restaurants

The provincial government has lowered the price of liquor for restaurants who are providing take-out during the pandemic.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission made the announcement this week.

The province hopes the lower prices for rum and other spirits will help boost sales at restaurants.

The price for whiskey, gin, rum and other spirits will be temporarily reduced from the current licensee minimum price of $2.00 per 29 mL to $1.34 per 29 mL.

At the end of March, the province introduced a similar measure allowing eateries to offer beer and wine on their take out menus.

Many local restaurants took the AGCO and provincial government up on their offer and have been selling beer and wine off their menus.
