Charge laid in ongoing Longlac death investigation

One person is facing a charge through an ongoing death investigation in Longlac.

On April 3, 2023, emergency services responded to a death at a residence on Louisa Street that triggered the investigation.

The deceased was identified as a 51-year-old Longlac resident.

A post-mortem examination was conducted at the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto to determine the cause of death.

On Wednesday the provincial police arrested and charged a person with a drug trafficking offence relating to the investigation.

A 42-year-old Thunder Bay resident is facing one charge of trafficking in Schedule I Substance – Opioid.

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the court at a later date.

The investigation into the matter remains ongoing.
