Chamber Pitches Ideas To Improve Region

Thunder Bay’s Chamber of Commerce is hoping the province will consider some of their ideas on improving the region’s economy.

The business group presented a policy recommendation that would amend Ontario’s immigration policies to help small and rural communities expand their workforce.

The other recommendation supports the growth of forestry through recognizing the Crown Forest Sustainability Act being equivilent with the Endangered Species Act.

Both policy recommendations were adopted by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce membership.

The two-day conference included presentations by the Premier and the Leaders of the three Opposition Parties as well as discussion and debate on a broad range of provincial issues that are impacting businesses including infrastructure, competitiveness, and the growing skills shortage.
