CFIA Says Romaine Lettuce Now Safe

An e-coli outbreak that caused many stores to temporarily stop selling romaine lettuce appears to be over.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says there have been no illnesses in Canada since mid-November.

They are no longer advising residents in Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick to avoid eating the lettuce and salad mixes containing romaine.

Twenty-nine confirmed cases of E. coli illness in Canada were investigated between mid-October and mid-November of this year.
