A two-run bases loaded hit by Jeremy Sheffield (Georgetown University) gave the Thunder Bay Border Cats a 10-9 walk-off victory over the Duluth Huskies.
The win completed a sweep of a two-game homestand over their Lake Superior rivals, coming with 1,607 fans in attendance during the Border Cats’ first of two School Day games of the season.
Sheffield came off the bench to pinch hit in the ninth and sealed the late Border Cats comeback.
Jordan Bach (Southern Illinois University) was the Border Cats Cwench player of the game, going 2-for-5 in the batter’s box with a home run in the eighth inning, along with 3 RBI and a stolen base. Cwench is the official hydration partner of the Border Cats.
Lucas Johnson (Eastern Michigan University) drove in a pair of runs with a two-run double that punctuated a four-run Thunder Bay fifth inning.
Ty Hamilton (Florida SouthWestern State College) added an RBI as part of a 2-for-4 day.
Pitcher Jackson Hohensee (Arizona Christian University) was credited with the win, improving his record to 2-0 on the campaign.
The Border Cats are now 5-4 in the first half, with four wins in their first six home games.
The Border Cats now hit the road to take on the Waterloo Bucks and the La Crosse Loggers before returning home to Port Arthur Stadium on Monday to host the Eau Claire Express, with first pitch of that game scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
