Online learning has fallen into place at the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board, but not without some hiccups.
The Catholic board’s online principal Anita Treesh admits it was a challenge to get the teachers and timetables in place.
“But we’ve been continuing to grease these moving pieces and fine-tune the machine and things are moving along in that area,” explains Treesh.
The Catholic board official tells us about 12 percent of their 7,500 students have opted for online classes which she says is about what they expected, “but perhaps a little bit higher” adding “it’s been quite a challenge to get this new school off the ground.”
Treesh says their pool of occasional teachers is being used for the online courses.
The deadline for opting into Internet learning was last Friday, but there will be another opportunity in October.
