Cap And Trade To Hike Gas Prices

The price of gasoline in Ontario is expected to go up 4.3 cents a litre and natural gas about $5 a month, now that the Wynne government is planning to put a price on carbon emissions.

Under the new cap and trade legislation all proceeds from Ontario’s cap and trade program would be put into into a new Greenhouse Gas Reduction Account.

In turn, this account would only fund projects and initiatives aimed at reducing emission.

Premier Kathleen Wynne making no apologies, saying the cost of doing nothing is much higher than going forward with reducing greenhouse gas emissions.(File Photo)
