City police are welcoming a delay in the federal government’s marijuana legislation.
Spokesperson Chris Adams tells our newsroom it gives them more breathing room.
“It will give agencies such as police, the other municipalities involved as well in locations etc, more time which is probably good in many respects to make sure we are prepared to properly deal with it when it becomes a legal substance.”
Adams says they are also going to use the time to come up with a plan to deal with drivers who get behind the wheel high.
The July start date has now been pushed back to late August or September. (File photo)
