Canada-U.S. Border Closure Extended

The Canada-U.S. border will remain closed to non-essential travel for another month.

Public Safety Minister Bill Blair announced Friday that the earliest the border will now open is July 21.

In a tweet, Blair said the government is planning measures for fully-vaccinated Canadians, permanent residents, and others currently permitted to enter Canada.

Ottawa is expected to provide further details on Monday.

The border has been closed to non-essential travel since last March. The restrictions have been extended month by month since.
