Camp Quality Needs Help

This is terrible! Camp Quality Northern Ontario’s storage unit flooded and they lost a lot of important camp supplies. Among the items they lost: life jackets, games, canopies and gazebos, and air conditioning units. It looks like the replacement costs could be upwards of $15,000 dollars. The timing is particularly brutal with camp set to start in a couple of weeks.

If you’re unfamiliar with Camp Quality, it provides an awesome opportunity for children aged 7 – 17 who are affected by cancer or other serious illnesses to go away to camp, build new skills, make friends and memories, and have a chance to hang out with kids who have had similar experiences.

I worked for a TV show in Calgary and every year we helped out at a similar camp. We’d go and volunteer there as well as host a camp out in studio where the kids would stay overnight, and we’d have all kinds of fun games and challenges on the morning show. I got to see first hand just how much this experience meant to the kids. There were lots of laughs and a few tears during it all. It really left a lasting impression on me. It’s so important and such a big deal to the people taking part.

If you’re able and interested, Camp Quality has set up a fundraising page where you can help out. You can access it by clicking here. There is more information in the post below about how else you can help out by donating needed items. They’re particularly in need of life jackets. Knowing this awesome community, Camp Quality will be up and running at full speed by the time the campers arrive!
