Busy Sked Ahead For North Stars

The Thunder Bay North Stars will play six games over the next nine days in February.

The Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL) squad opened up the stretch with a pair of losses to the Dryden Ice Dogs last weekend.

“I’m not sure why we are playing four games this week, three games the next week and four the following week,” questioned Head Coach Rob DeGagne. “I just think it’s too much in a short period of time for these guys. We seem to be the only team in the (SIJHL) with this kind of schedule.”

The North Stars come into Wednesday’s affair with a 15-10-3 record, five points behind the Red Lake Miners (18-3-2) who provide the opposition for the next two nights.

“The top four teams (in the SIJHL) seem to be ahead of everyone else, so anybody can win on any given night,” DeGagne noted. “The (Miners) want to continue to challenge for first place. We have to beat the teams ahead of us in order to get better and move up in the standings so (playing the Miners) is a challenge that we are looking forward to.”

Puck drop will be 7:30 p.m.
