Border Cats’ player selected in MLB draft

Dreams have come true for a Thunder Bay Border Cats player.

Sean Heppner has been selected in the 2024 Major League Baseball Draft.

He was selected by the Cleveland Guardians 335th overall in the 12th round.

The 21-year-old from Washington has appeared in 11 games for the Cats this season and is 1-2 with five saves and a 1.83 earned run average.

The right-hander has struck out 29 batters in just over 19 innings this season.

The Cats’ final home game is on Wednesday, with the team closing out the season on the road.
