Work begins this week at the local Bombardier plant in partially building ventilators in partnership with southern Ontario’s O-2 Industries.
Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP Marcus Powlowski says although there isn’t as much of a demand on ventilators now, it’s good that Canada is preparing for the worst-case scenario.
“So having those ventilators there is a great safe guard and is really necessary because what has been the greatest tragedy is what has happened in Spain and Italy where they ran out of ventilators and have told people sorry we can’t help,” Powlowski said.
The southern Ontario O-2 Industries is going to put the finishing touches on the ventilators.
“I think this is free enterprise really coming through. I think Bombardier is a good company with local know how and O-2 was already making ventilators. It was just a matter of getting these two companies together and figuring out how they could work together,” Powlowski added.
