Balmoral Street On City Roadwork List

With the city budget now approved city hall officials can now prepare for the road construction season.

Spokesperson Rick Harms tells us the major project will be the next phase of the work on Balmoral Avenue between Sibley and Alloy Drives.

“This year’s work will take us across the Harbour Expressway where we are anticipating additional drainage pipes, some other underground water main work, and upgrading the intersection to additional traffic lanes including double left turns in all directions,” said Harms.

The city project engineer says the preliminary design is near completion with the request for tenders going out after that and city council approval expected in early May.

Also on the construction to-do list is Dawson Road between Skyline Avenue and Hazelwood Drive. Harms says work there will include repaving and upgrading street lights.

There is also a section of River Street between Madaline and High which will also see paving, new curbs, and street lights and James Street from Frederica to the swing bridge will be undergoing paving work as well.
